In 2015 Tanweer movement with the partnership of Huna Libya, launched (Khalifa Al Fakhri) short story competition, one of the projects of Radio Netherlands Worldwide. The competition aims to highlight and focus attention on the talent of young writers in Libya, encouraging young and creative writers to practice short story writing, the short story literature is a piece of prose fiction that typically can be read in one sitting and focuses on a self-contained incident or series of linked incidents, with the intent of evoking a “single effect” or mood.
Who is Khalifah Al-Fakhri? He is a Libyan author and writer (1942-2001). Al-Fakhri is considered one of the most important short story writers in Libya. His work has been published in several Libyan magazines such as Al-Haqeeqah, Al-Usbou Al-Thaqafi, Al-Thaqafah Al-Arabiah, Benghazi news and the four seasons magazine.
This competition was named in honour of his contributions.
Tanweer» movement announced the results of «Khalifa Fakhri short story competition», within «VYCAN cultural event», and the awards winners were as follows:
First place: Mohammed Al-Na’as, ‘’Magnoun Ghazala’’
Second place: Fayrouz Salem, ‘’Al-Soor’’
Third place: Reem Al-tombakti, ‘’Alraqs Akheeran’’
