FAQs
Questions our clients ask.
Straight answers on visits, installation, warranty, financing and maintenance. If your question is not here, call or message us.
Before you buy
Is the site visit free?
Yes. The site visit and technical assessment are free.
How soon will you contact me?
Within 2 to 4 days of your request.
Which areas do you cover?
We take commercial, industrial and farm projects anywhere in Iraq, and home systems in central Iraq. We have built projects in nine provinces, in the north, centre and south of the country.
Is solar worth it if the grid covers most of my needs?
In federal Iraq, where grid electricity is cheap, solar rarely pays back once the grid covers more than 80% of your needs. A battery system that charges from the grid is usually the better choice. In the Kurdistan Region, tariffs are higher and the answer can be different.
How much roof space do I need?
About 6 m² for every kWp of panels, so a 5 kWp system needs about 30 m². The roof must be strong enough for the structure and free of shade.
What does the price include?
The complete system, transport, installation, commissioning and a main cable of up to 15 metres. Changes to your main distribution board are not included.
Can I pay in instalments?
Tanweer does not offer instalments directly. You can finance a system with the Central Bank of Iraq's solar energy loans, through partner banks; Tanweer is approved with TBI, NBI, IDB and MIB. For medium and large commercial projects, we can arrange financing with partner developers.
What are the payment terms?
50% when you confirm the order, 30% when the materials are on site and 20% after commissioning.
How long is a quotation valid?
Five days. Equipment prices and exchange rates change often.
Installation
Do I need to be home during installation?
Yes. Part of the work is indoors, so having someone at home lets the crew work quickly.
How long will your crew be at my house?
Three days is standard for a home installation, but it varies considerably with the site conditions. From signing to switch-on, a home system takes 3 to 10 days; a 50 to 300 kWp plant takes 21 to 60 days.
How do I turn on the system?
You don't need to. Our engineers switch the system on at commissioning, and it stays on unless something needs attention.
What if I want to add more panels later?
Discuss it with our engineer before the installation. Whether panels can be added later depends on the roof area, the inverter's MPPT voltage range, the string layout and other factors, so it is best planned into the design.
Can you connect a new system to my existing batteries or UPS?
No. New systems are not connected to batteries or UPS units already on site.
After installation
Do you give a guarantee and after-sales service?
Yes. Every system carries our two-year EPC warranty, covering every part. After that, the manufacturers' warranties continue on the major components, for 5 or 10 years depending on the item. For a system financed with a Central Bank of Iraq loan, our EPC warranty runs for the term of the loan, 5 to 7 years. Our operation and maintenance team can look after the system after handover.
What happens after the system is inspected?
On larger projects, preventive maintenance shows which parts are still running but near the end of their life. We then issue a change request so they can be replaced before they fail.
How often should the panels be cleaned?
When production drops. Dust typically costs a plant 3 to 6% of its output. Under our maintenance contracts, cleaning is the most frequent task: about once a month on average, depending on the location.
Which batteries do you use?
Batteries from Sungrow, Huawei and Dyness, with a 5- or 10-year warranty depending on the battery. For homes, we size the battery for four hours of backup.
Can I sell electricity back to the grid?
You can export energy to reduce what you import from the grid, but not more than you import. Most smart meters are ready for export.
